Hi my name is Alex Taro Miller.
I was born in Tokyo, Japan, but raised in Houston, Texas. I carry dual-citizenship with Japan and the United States.
I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Economics, Policy, and Organizations. While at CMU, I started all four years as a Tight End on the Varsity Football Team garnering All-Conference accolades.
After graduating in May 2019, I accepted my first role at Freddie Mac through its College Hire Program. I served within its Multifamily Capital Markets Department as an Analyst, Senior Analyst, and Associate.
Eventually, I pivoted to the Global Automotive Conglomerate, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (VWGoA). At VWGoA, I worked within its Treasury Department as the Back Office Operations Analyst and Cash Management Specialist.
Currently, I serve as a Financial Analyst at the F-35 Joint Program Office primarily focusing on budget allocation and forecasting for its Air Vehicle (AV) Procurement Spares accounts. I maintain an active Secret Security Clearance.
Outside of work, I LOVE travel hacking, trying new restaurants, and staying active at the gym.
My passion for travel started from a young age. My father took overseas assignments to Japan, where he eventually met my mother. My mother is the daughter of a diplomat and traveled all over the world as a child. My parents have encouraged me to see the world and experience new things culturally.
Travel Hacking became an interest when I started working as a professional. I knew that paying out of pocket for frequent international travels was not sustainable with a first-year professional’s salary. I turned to travel hacking by leveraging various credit card programs to help achieve my international travel goals. Some of my favorite destinations thus far have been Turkey (pictured to the left), Japan, South Korea, and the Maldives.
I am constantly seeking to improve my technical and creative abilities. I believe there’s more to me than a “finance bro”. I am a sociable, driven person that can be thrown into any situation and thrive.
